The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats Adapted by Cal Barr

The Snowy Day - Cal's "2 minute movie" for his audition to Middle school

If you would like to see the blog by the photographer who took the photo of the "Melting Sun" please check it out. Cal needed a good photo for the dream sequence where Peter is dreaming that the sun has melted all the snow away and found this perfect photograph. here is how it looks in the book:

I think that young actor he cast really shines. Has he acted before, or was this his big break?

Oh my goodness, Sasha absolutely ADORES "The Snowy Day"; she probably asks for one of us to read it to her every day, and she likes to act out the scenes in which Peter sleds down the hill and makes footsteps in the snow. Cal did a great job; I'll be sure to show it to Sasha!

Hey there! I am a nurse and I will be working at Soddo Christian Hospital this summer, training their nurses. I have worked in orphanages in Addis for 2 summers, and this will be my first time out of the city. Mary (Owlhaven) is my sister, and she got me hooked on Ethiopia. Anyway, I am wondering if I could pick your brain about a few things. I would love an email from you! sen18 at hotmail dot com

Hi Cal.
I was in Washington DC with your Mom and she kept bragging how about you and your great film. I came home and finally got to watch it. It's terrific!! And good luck with school. Keep us up to date with what you're doing.
