Forever Day

"Mom, I don't know what that mean, 'forever'."

"Forever means that it goes on and on. It never stops. It means always."

"I don't know what that mean 'Forever Day'."

"Today is the day that mommy and daddy were in Ethiopia, one year ago, and Dagne gave you to us and we kept you forever. It means we will never give you back. You will always be our little boy, our baby boy...forever...never ending....always."

Adoption is forever. Never ends. Always.

Today we celebrated one year- had lunch at our favorite local Ethiopian Restaurant with my brother and my father. We celebrate one year ago today when our lives changed inexorably, beautifully, wonderfully and joyfully. Thanks to all of you who were here along the way.

Here is one year ago....

Duh, and I call and interupt your Forever day. Such a dud. I still can't believe it was a year ago that we were all up late writing the "letter". The letter I chickened out on signing. Happy Forever Day!

You always make me cry! I am so glad that your baby boys are with you forever... as it was intended to be all along.

Ah, yes, the letter.... "good times." LOL

I love the term "Forever Day"! How wonderful to think of it that way - and THAT is what it is FOREVER! Thanks for always giving me wonderful wisdom and a big example of step out with your faith and what you know as right. And oh yeah, never got to see "the letter" but oh how it could become a "book" this year!

I did not remember that you, Sandra, were one of the ones who helped write the latter but then did not sign it- most of the families who were waiting for court dates, embassy dates or referral information were so worried that if they signed the letter CWA would sabotage their adoption. Which speaks volumes about the lack of a tusting relationship between the agency and their clients. It was a pretty good letter- and to think that CWA could have changed the course of so much if they had actually responded to our concerns in May 2006.

You are so right Em... I just revisited your site (as I do pretty much daily) and saw the video you added. So I should not have worn mascara. How touching and warm and lovely to see you and Mark with your baby boys one year ago... they have changed so much. Just this morning driving Max to school I caught a glimpse of him in my rear view mirror looking out the window and I smiled with thanks... what a difference a year makes. I really do hope Max and Yabsera can have a play date since they are best friends and all. :)
